Plumhead Parakeets are a beautiful small Asiatic parakeet species with an elegant, extra long tail and really eye catching colors. Males are especially striking with their bright purple heads, while females have a softer, lighter purple look that’s just as pretty in its own way. Males are usually more popular because of their bold coloring and strong talking ability, but females are also capable of learning words and sounds and can be just as fun to live with. It’s also important to note that males typically do not develop their full adult plumage until around three years of age, so their colors continue to deepen and become more vibrant over time.
Plumheads only breed once a year, which makes them harder to come by and always in high demand. Their limited availability, combined with their looks and personality, is what makes them such a special species to own. All babies are DNA sexed with certification and will come with a small amount of food to help transition to your preferred diet. Weaned on a custom blend that includes pellets, dry seed mix, dried fruit & nut mix, and a blend of herbs for a healthy start. They also receive fresh chop and sprouted seeds on occasion.
